Puppies Need Exercise | Uncle Stonnie Goes on a Rant

Today Uncle Stonnie starts out talking about puppy exercise and why he thinks the trends towards restricted puppy exercise and socialization opportunities are harmful and unnatural in terms of proper canine physical and mental development. After a while the cameraman brought to Stonnie's attention that the presentation had devolved into an emotional rant; for that we apologize.

We salvaged as much of this video as we could. We will get to work on a more professional explanation of Stonnie's positions concerning puppy exercise and socialization and its importance in relation to canine development specifically and dog training generally. In the meantime, we hope you guys enjoy watching the puppies play, exercise, and socialize in the snow!

About the breed: General Appearance — a symmetrical, powerful, active dog, sound and well put together, not clumsy nor long in the leg, displaying a kindly expression and possessing a personality that is eager, alert and self-confident. Primarily a hunting dog, he should be shown in hard working condition. Over-all appearance, balance, gait and purpose to be given more emphasis than any of his component parts. Temperament — friendly, reliable and trustworthy. Quarrelsomeness or hostility towards other dogs or people in normal situations, or an unwarranted show of timidity or nervousness, is not in keeping with Golden Retriever character. Such actions should be penalized according to their significance.

Wire Haired Pointing Griffon vs German Shorthaired Pointer | Which One Is Right For You?

Today we are taking a look at the Wire Haired Pointing Griffon. I'm no expert on the breed, but I though you guys might like me to give you a brief overview of what I know and then compare and contrast the WPG to the German Shorthaired Pointer.

For more information about the breed be sure to check out the American Wirehaired Pointing Griffon Association! From the AWPGA website:

The Griffon is a very people oriented dog known for its trainability and high degree of cooperation. Although the Griffon has a great love for the field and is an excellent swimmer, it is equally at home in the obedience and show ring. With its keen nose it is also a natural at tracking. The fun loving side of its personality enjoys agility training. The Griff’s outgoing personality makes it a wonderful family pet and great with children. Overall, the Griffon is one of the best-kept secrets in the Sporting Group and is the ultimate VERSATILE hunting companion.

Why I Love the Labrador Retriever Part 1

I get a ton of emails asking why I love the Labrador retriever. Today's video is the first in a series devoted to answering that question. If you are thinking about getting a Labrador Retriever puppy, or are simply a fan of the breed, be sure to follow along and contribute your own opinions in the comments section!

I hope you guys enjoy!

Extract from an article published by the Labrador Retriever Club USA: “Within the Labrador Retriever breed type there are variations in body style which have evolved to suit the use of the dog, as well as the preferences of individual breeders and owners. In the United States the general public has begun to label these variations mistakenly as "English or "American" style. Perhaps a better description for variations in style is "show/conformation" or "working/field" styles. The working/field or "American" style of dog is the label often attached to a Labrador possessing lighter bone structure and exhibiting more length of leg, a less dense coat, and a narrower head with more length of muzzle. The conformation/show or "English" style Labrador Retriever is generally thought of as a stockier dog, heavier of bone and shorter on leg and with a denser coat, and having a head often described as "square or blocky." However, working/field variations occur in England as well, so this description is not necessarily suitable.”

The first Labradors in the United States were imported from England in 1911.
